Samuel Augustus Bridges (January 27, 1802 – January 14, 1884) was a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. Samuel Bridges served as U.S. Congressman. Born in Colchester, Connecticut, he was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1829, and established a practice first in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, then later in Allentown, Pennsylvania. John Bright (16 November 1811 – 27 March 1889), Quaker, was a British Radical and Liberal statesman, associated with Richard Cobden in the formation of the Anti-Corn Law League. He was one of the greatest orators of his generation, and a strong critic of British foreign policy. He sat in the House of Commons from 1843 to 1889. Bright, John

John Bright (16 November 1811 – 27 March 1889). In 1843 Bright was elected to represent Durham in the House of Commons. In Parliament he campaigned for the repeal of the Corn Laws.  He also supported those Whigs advocating universal suffrage and the secret ballot. However, unlike most Radicals, Bright was opposed to Parliament regulating the hours of factory workers. Bright feared that factory legislation would lower wages and threaten Britain's export trade and as a result voted against the 1844 Factory Act.  Autograph Slip Writing Signed, 01/03/1872 - 3 1/2 x 4 1/2 written in blk ink with  browning "age-toning" noted. Carter, Franklin

Franklin Carter (1837–1919) was an American professor. Carter graduated from Williams College in 1862, to later become a professor at the same school. During this time, he taught Latin and German classes. Also, he was the head of a language scholar organisation called the Modern Languages Association. Carter later became president of the Williams College, thus becoming the first president of the university to also be a scholar. Chapin, Edwin Hubbell

Edwin Hubbell Chapin (December 29, 1814 – 1880) was an American preacher and editor of the Christian Leader.
