Bradley, Thomas J. 'Tom'

Thomas J. "Tom" Bradley (December 29, 1917 – September 29, 1998) was the 38th Mayor of Los Angeles, California, serving in that office from 1973 to 1993. He was the first and to date only African American mayor of Los Angeles. His 20 years in office mark the longest tenure by any mayor in the city's history before term limits passed by California voters in 1990 came into effect in a voter-approved statewide initiative. His 1973 election made him only the second African American mayor of a major U.S. city. Eichelberger, for one year subscriptions at $2.00 per year. It clams to have the largest circulation of any paper published in the State. Six (6) Documents Signed, 07/21/1871-06/01/1875 - 8 x 3 1/4 signed in blk ink from the Staesman’s printing press in blue ink; Generalized stains, wearm and light browning and abrasions have been seen. Document Deed Receipts Bath Morgan County VA (WV)

Morgan County was created by an act of the Virginia General Assembly in March 1820 from parts of Berkeley and Hampshire counties. It was named in honor of General Daniel Morgan (1736–1802).  Documents Signed, (14 deeds) 05/12/1859 -  7 1/2 x 12 written in blk ink on old English fiber wire woven blue parchment with a four-fold crease.  This deed for goods, is from the historical town of Bath, County of Morgan, VA (WV).  Slight age-toning seen.  Overall, fine/veryfine condition.

Fields, Armond

Armond Fields, an expert on vaudevillian theatre, a biographer and a longtime friend of the USC Libraries, died at his home in Culver City on Aug. 17. He was 77. A prolific author, the Chicago-born Fields researched and wrote many books on the American theatre, including From the Bowery to Broadway: Lew Fields and the Roots of American Popular Theatre (1993), a biography of his great-uncle and vaudeville star. Florence, William Jermyn

William Jermyn Conlin (July 26, 1831 – November 19, 1891) better known by his stage name William J. Florence, was a US actor, songwriter, and playwright. Florence was one of a select number of Americans to win the ribbon of the French Societe Histoire Dramatique. He was also co-founder with Walter M. Johnny Grant (May 9, 1923 – January 9, 2008) was an American radio personality and television producer who also served as the honorary mayor of Hollywood, in which capacity he was often present at Hollywood community functions, including the unveiling of new stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Greene, Roy Farrell

Roy Farrell Greene (born: Three Rivers, Mich. in 1873 - died: 30-January 1909), he was a poet and humorist. He came to Kansas as a child, his parents locating near Hackney, a little village about 6 miles north of Arkansas City. After graduating in the Arkansas City high school, he took up newspaper work, and at the time of his death on Jan. 30, 1909, he was city editor of a daily paper at Arkansas City.

In 1909 he published a book of poems, entitled "Cupid is King," and he wrote many interesting stories for newspapers and magazines. Griffis, William Elliot

William Elliot Griffis (September 17, 1843 – February 5, 1928) was an American orientalist, Congregational minister, lecturer, and prolific author.

Griffis was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of a sea captain and later a coal trader. During the American Civil War, he served three months in the 44th Pennsylvania Volunteers Regiment after Robert E. Lee invaded Pennsylvania in 1863.
